Trefaldwyn yn rhoi cweir i Bont

Mae Bont yn dal i chwilio am eu buddugoliaeth gyntaf yn Adran 2 Spar y Canolbarth wedi iddynt gael eu llorio yn Nhrefaldwyn dros y penwythnos.

Gyda chymaint â chwech o chwaraewyr yn eisiau, roedd wastad yn mynd i fod yn anodd i’r ymwelwyr mewn oren. Ymysg y rhai a fethodd y gêm oedd y golgeidwad Trevor Jenkins a thri o’r pedwar amddiffynnwr sydd wedi dechrau’r gemau eraill eleni, ond byddai’r tîm cryfaf wedi ei chael hi’n anodd iawn yn erbyn tîm cartref cryf.

Roedd y gêm drosodd erbyn yr hanner mewn gwirionedd, gyda Threfaldwyn yn arwain o 4-0. Achosodd asgellwr chwith y tîm cartref, Tony Meredith, bob math o broblemau gyda’i gyflymder ac fe’i gwobrwywyd â dwy gôl yn yr hanner cyntaf.  Gaz Bromley a Ross Harries sgoriodd y ddwy arall.

Y gorau y gallai Bont obeithio amdano wedi’r hanner oedd adennill rhywfaint o hunan barch, ond dechreuodd pethau’n wael wrth i Drefaldwyn sgorio eu pumed diolch i Bromley wedi pum munud. Fe ddaeth gôl gysur i’r ymwelwyr diolch i Jamie Evans a beniodd groesiad Owain Schiavone o’r chwith i’r rhwyd wedi 20 munud. Daeth rhai cyfleoedd eraill i Bont wrth i’r ymwelwyr eistedd nol ar eu goruchafiaeth, ond doedd dim siâp sgorio arnyn nhw ar beth oedd yn ddiwrnod gwael.

Roedd rheolwr Bont, Andre Marsh, yn siomedig â’r perfformiad a chanlyniad, “allwn ni ddim fforddio â cholli pump neu chwech o chwaraewyr ar y lefel yma” meddai, “yn enwedig pan fyddwn ni’n chwarae yn erbyn tîm o safon Trefaldwyn. Er hynny, roedd y perfformiad yn siomedig ac fe fuaswn i wedi disgwyl gwell. Mae’n rhaid i ni dderbyn y canlyniad a dysgu o’r profiad.”

A Bont side missing 6 regulars found out just how hard the Spar Mid Wales Division 2 really is, as they were beaten comprehensively at Montgomery on Saturday.

Bont were missing regular keeper, Trevor Jenkins, along with 3 of their back four from previous games. Even with their strongest team though, Bont would have found the going hard against a quality Montgomery side.

The home team were 4-0 up and out of sight by half time as they took full advantage of the Bont frailties at the back. The Montgomery left winger, Tony Meredith, caused the most problems with his pace and movement. Meredith scored two goals in the opening period whilst Gaz Bromley and Ross Harris also contributed a goal apiece.

Bont were well and truly dead and buried by the interval and the best they could hope for was to regain some pride in the second half.

Things didn’t look to promising after five minutes though as Mony went 5-0 up with a second for former TNS player Bromley. Bont did manage a consolation goal midway through the second half as Jamie Evans got his head to a cross from the left by Owain Schiavone. The visitors had a few more good chances before the 90 but failed to convert again in what was a really bad day at the office.

Bont manager Andre Marsh was disappointed by the manor of his team’s defeat and said “we can’t afford to be missing five or six players from our squad at this level, especially when playing against a quality side like Montgomery. Even so, our performance was really disappointing today and I would have expected better. We have to take it on the chin and grow from the experience.”

Tîm Bont team: O. Evans, I. Lee (C. Jones), P. Horton, A. Marsh, B. Jenkins, J. Davies, G. Hughes, O. Schiavone, J. Evans, I. Evans (A. Thomas), A. Gilbert (S. Jones)

Eilydd na ddefnyddiwyd / Unused Sub: W. Ellis
